Proverbs 3:5-14
Trust in the LORD
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
9 Honor the Lord with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine.
11 My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.
13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding,
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
Jeremiah 17:7-10
The Heart is Deceitful
7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”
9 The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?
10 “I the Lord search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”
Jesus trusted in His Father and in God's Word...He trusted in the Ways of God...He did God's Will...And through God's Will He was always helping those who needed help...
This world is a difficult place and it makes life a difficult and complex time...If we would trust in the LORD with all our hearts and acknowledge Him to those we meet then the world would not only be a better place, but also less difficult one...Trusting in the LORD, for some reason, is difficult...It seems we like to do our own thing and make our own decisions...To let God guide you through all the decisions in life is a hard thing to do...But man’s heart is deceitful...Who can understand it?...And the heart of man with its sinful nature distorts the word of God and the gospel of Jesus...Man looks up to the wealthy and elite and the least and the last are ignored...Jesus did not teach this...
Author and Priest Brennan Manning wrote, “The bending of the mind by the powers of this world has twisted the gospel of grace into religious bondage and distorted the image of God into an eternal, small-minded bookkeeper...The Christian community resembles a Wall Street exchange of works wherein the elite are honored and the ordinary ignored.”...
