Arizona, Austin, Alaska, MD, Fort Worth, Massachusetts, WI, Minneapolis, FL, Alabama, VA, Honolulu, Detroit, Oakland, Brookhaven, WA, New Hampshire, Ohio, Maryland, ME, Portland, Seattle, MA, Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, NE, Atlanta, LA, SD, write descriptive essay important thing is to tell them about you who you are and that means thinking about the traits and characteristics that are uniquely you so what I want you to do is take a piece of paper and I dont care if you want to do this when youre sitting on the beach someday or in your bedroom or at some starbucks caffe right just think quietly as you can about who you really are am I kind am I intelligent my good at sports am I chill with the ladies am I a great artist whatever that happens to be make a list dont prioritize them yet just keep going with your list and if theres any you know story or anecdote that comes to mind as you call out that trait as you think about that shut that down too dont get off into the story yet just jot it down how do you know youre a kind person well you remember the time you helped out this pork in class whatever just write that thought down keep going with your list now what if you cant think about who you are maybe that self reflective thing is not something that you do very naturally ask a friend a best friend a parent maybe you know a brother a sister to reflect a little bit on who you are you can say to them something like well if you were introducing me to somebody else what would you say about me and that might be a good place to start so as you write these traits and lists down remember that your essay is going to be 600 words so youre going to want to narrow it down to maybe the most important 325 think of a five-point star okay and try to fill in each of those points on the write descriptive essay star the five things that are really you the most important things about you then look at the stories or the vehicle the way that you could somehow tell a story with a little bit of drama and excitement about those traits not so directly but perhaps indirectly as you tell the story the andrew stanton whos actually works for pixar one of the authors of little nemo so i guess you know something about storytelling right quoted a british playwright who said that drama is in test anticipation mingled with uncertainty so think about when you write your college essay you want to have something to grab them to pull their attention in because they read thousands of these essays so you want yours to be a standout then youre going to write your story and then youre going to have a grabber that makes them sit back and say wow this is amazing we want this kind of person we want Joe to be part of our campus so thats what youre going to get to but for now its about the story so think about the traits think about the story that brings out some of those traits about you dont worry about that front end as I talked about that grabber just yet dont think about the clincher at the end just yet if it comes to you fine but dont let that inhibit you telling and getting down on paper the draft remember first drafts theyre never really impressive so dont set such ultra high expectations of yourself you just want to get the story down sometimes it takes more than one dont be afraid by that sometimes you may want write descriptive essayto highlight some group of traits over another group but thats all right just tell the story get the points down I dont care if its 1200 words youre going to narrow it down eventually you can be selective about it but just get the draft down and in the end hopefully youll feel good about it that this story says something about you what is unique about you proudly so in a positive light thatll help the college say wow we want someone like this to be part of our community the next time around were going to talk about editing that draft and a little bit of trouble shooting for some topics that we havent really addressed yet but they could come up okay so thanks again thats recession one you write descriptive essay
