down on a paper are going to be put into a Google Form each week so you can write this link on the board for students its this nice tiny URL slash PT PS / fa file 18 fa-18 / exit 1 and you know next week will be exit 2 and so forth in just the last 5 minutes of class make sure you save some time for them to do this and theyll go here and theyll find this eggs that slipped form and on the form our series of questions for students to fill out these are the first one says what site or class theyre in but the rest of them are questions about the content youve covered that day they are multiple choice or free response questions but all of them are you know theyre not like essay questions theyre very short and they have correct answers and this is set up as a quiz so students can fill this out and submit and then immediately see how many questions they got right and you know if they got them wrong what the correct answers are and these are just simple questions about what youve covered in class and the purpose of this is twofold first as I said to give students feedback about what they understood and didnt understand from a particular week and also to give you feedback about what students understood to do so let me go back to this page I see if I just got through everything okay first so Ill go through in a minute how you can actually access that feedback but first if students dont girl doing homework have smart phones or laptops to take the exit slip then let them just write out the questions and the answers on paper you can just project they exist slip questions for them and write them on the board and also emphasize to students that this isnt a test were not trying to you know make them feel bad that they didnt understand things its really a feedback mechanism thats all it is and its totally anonymous we know who said what and whos getting things right or wrong then you after examining after administering the exit slip should examine the data and now because this is one exit slip and theres seven different classes thats a little bit difficult you cant just do the thing you might normally do for a Google form which is click Edit and then view the responses because if you do that youll get aggregate data for all of the classes and thats not what you want to look at so instead of doing that what you need to do is go into the exit slip folder in the drive and click on this sheet exit slip number one responses itll be a response sheet every week and you can see here all of the you know theres a column for each question on the form as well as a score which we dont care about because were not grading so it is interesting to see aggregate data about the average score and a timestamp and what you should do is sort this data by which site or class youre in so go here if some if maybe a teacher has already viewed this and done this already but if youre the first one girl doing homeworkto view it go here sort it a to Z or Z to a and then all the responses from your class will appear one right after another and then you can go through and look at the responses to each particular question see what students are getting right and getting wrong you can also look at the scores theres an easy way and Google sheets to disorder highlight a bunch of scores and do an aggregate function and take the average and find that yeah so I encourage you to look at the results like this if you know about you know computer science or data science you could also download this as a CSV and do some simple table manipulation and actually analyze the data in sort of a nicer format but if you dont you can just sort of read the responses like this cool I think thats everything on here oh and then the last thing is if you notice that a majority of students missed a certain question like Oh everyone got the question about double negatives wrong that means you should re emphasize that material in the following week so take some time at the beginning of class or the middle of class to just re-emphasize girl doing homework
