passage of like it could be literally three lines what is the tone are there any images that are being brought out whatever sentence lengths like is a really really rambling sentence as its short choppy sentences is it long followed by a short sentence what does that do to the pace does it make reading it feel uncomfortable or is it nice and real to read is there any rhyme even if its not you know a poem where rhyme is usually kind of obvious even in prose in a novel is there any rhyme not any internal rhymes are there sounds that are repeated is there any alliteration is there assonance as there sibilance and more importantly what is the effect of all those things I feel like its something that you focus a lot on at a level and I feel like I was really really good at close reading at a level and then you come to uni and you read critical essays and a lot of critical essays actually dont do close reading a lot of them talk about these big complex ideas so I thought like I had to emulate that and actually I realized yeah these big ideas are cool to put in but also they do actually just want you to do some close reading and with critics as well its the same thing like I feel like when Id read critical essays or they would be doing is quoting all the critics theyd be like yeah this critic said that and this this that and Id be like wait what are you actually saying and I think thats a mistake that a lot how to write a descriptive essay about a place of people make as well and realistically if they want to know what some other critic is saying they can go and read that other critics essay what are you saying obviously you want to have critics in your essay but honestly even like the last you essays I did maybe obviously having slightly more critics would have boosted my grades not like Ive got 100% or anything but I barely had any critic so I can make mention like to critics when you do you critics try and use them as more than just like a kind of springboard I did this a lot like first year basically use the critic to say what youre trying to say but actually its more effective if like if you can find a bit where youre like actually I feel like the critic kind of got this a bit wrong not wrong but like maybe they didnt go as far enough as you would go maybe they didnt notice this specific thing maybe feel like theyre focused too much on this thing and actually a lot of critics arent looking much at this its better to be like yeah sure this critic said this and thats quite like truth but actually I feel like this critic maybe oversimplified it a bit and didnt do this and thats really scary to do like some of these critics have been you know writing about these things before you were even born we all interact a text differently there might be something that they just didnt pick up on they might actually be oversimplifying this or they might not have noticed this my new detail that you have yeah its really hard but try not to be afraid and how to write a descriptive essay about a placeI still do this like if Im like slightly agreeing with the critic Im like low-key cringing inside like yeah if you can kind of just use critics as more than just like oh I agree with this critic oh and yet someone like general just writing tips dont be afraid to like move on to some sections I sometimes have a problem with this where like I said I have that structure and when I talk about this in section one talk about this in section two talk about this in section three and I think because Im quite like an ordered person I feel like right we need to go to the essay like this and sometimes you might be just staring at section one and let you know what you want to talk about but youre like I dont know how to write it and then you might look at section two and you might have more of an idea of what you want to say in section two its perfectly fine to write write the essay in like a weird order write section three first then section one section two so if you feel like some sections are going to be easier dont be like stagnated sticking to like trying to follow the structure how to write a
