ideas out and into a structure your book darts it wont be very good if we just have it plug and play but if you work through this and if you struggle with your ideas and you understand okay I think I quite know it that well or maybe you down the wrong path or something but not always I mean we had plenty of really smart people who knew their stuff well it took them five six hours thats fine thats boring monotonous and they really disengage our learners as opposed to attract their attention so how to create killer online presentations thats the hot topic for today well I can talk about different strategies for making your presentation more engage in an interesting online for hours however today I just want to share 7 major tools as I think that will help you create the wow factor in your presentations so to number one it is kind of obvious but some presenters missed this information is to know your objectives and to state them to your audience the audience needs to know why theyre listening to you and what they will be able to know or to do at the end of your presentation tool number two use reverse pyramid principal what does it mean is that in a face-to-face presentation we kind of like to start with the introduction and talk a little bit about general topics principle is such that is suggested by Guy Kawasaki he he suggests that you need to have maximum presentation lets go [Music] so first of all let me quickly show you what Prezi looks like so that you understand what we will be doing in PowerPoint so Prezi is an online presentation tool that allows you to create awesome dynamic presentations you basically have these bubbles which are like overview of the whole presentation and then you can click on any of these bubbles and you can zoom in and here you get additional bubbles additional content of your presentation and again you can zoom in second time so thats really awesome this way you can create steps to writing an essay theres not a generic template that doesnt exist but the other reason because of that and the other reason is we want you to struggle a little bit with putting together your outline right and then we want you and we want you to struggle somewhere youre writing each chapter which is like that seems up right like why would we do that why are we say oh yeah we want to watch you suffer well who knows the story of why the butterfly died if you know please dont put the answer in the chat Im gonna tell the story now so he so heres basically the story there a grandfather and as a kid and the grandson are walking around the great sounds like five years old same aged my son and they find theyre walking along and they find a chrysalis on the ground right and the kid gets so excited he said cough grandpa I know you told me we cant touch a chrysalis when theyre in the trees but this was on the ground and like you know its it could be stepped on or something could we pick this up and take it home and and you know like put it in the right conditions and maybe help the butterfly you know hatch under great the grandfathers like okay we can do that because its on the ground but you know Ill help you get everything set up but I do I dont want theres one condition and the grant sounds like of course anything Ill do my chores hes like no no no the only condition is this when the butterfly starts to emerge from the chrysalis you cant help it you have to let it do everything on its own and the best possible book this process is hard theres no way around it thats what makes it valuable thats why you get prestige and credibility when you write a book because most people dont because its too hard okay does that make sense all right so were not gonna have you work on that right now probably where you are right now on the journey is right here Im so confused right but if youre not then when you start working on your outline youre gonna get confused its just the way it works which is super normal everyone gets confused in the middle of and then when youre in the middle of outlining youre almost certainly going to be a peak anxiety like youre probably gonna be a little bit freaked out thats normal that happens to everybody right to be expected I didnt give you anywhere near the time to finish and even if you do like theres just how it works all you need to do from here is keep without a lot of other people have but were gonna walk you through that tomorrow too as well so theres theres a question here about how long should it take you to create an outline it might also be a little hard to understand maybe Ill so how long should the outline be Im gonna talk about that the outline should be you should not write your book in the and then lead our audience to the main point well online we really dont have this luxury the attention span is even shorter online than in a face-to-face context so you need to start with the most important point first and then expand upon it tool number three use cognitive dissonance principle what does it mean often we are taught to create a great presentation that you can have like five to seven bullets on now for a PowerPoint and theyre all written with words well forget about it what is really what really will work is if you create if you come up with some images that from the first you know glimpse you know when then when the audience looks at it they really dont understand why these two images for example are put together but while youre talking they will see the connection between them so you want to constantly engage your learner when they see something that doesnt make sense to them theyre gonna pay more attention than as opposed to read your bullet and while youre talking they already read it so theyre disengaged right away - number four articulate learners needs throughout the presentation your learner always needs to know what it is in it for him or her from the beginning of the presentation during the presentation and end of the presentation to number five create interaction even if you are creating a presentation that will be provided as in an asynchronous environment so not at the same time and you cant really engage audience in a dynamic Non Aligned your presentation experience and PowerPoint has the slides own feature which allows you basically to create similar effect just using PowerPoint so in todays video I will show you how you can create something similar just use in PowerPoint and now let me show you the presentation that I have created in PowerPoint you know so again we have these bubbles and we can click on any of these bubbles we can zoom in I have inserted a video clip and I have inserted animated image placeholder so you can basically insert anything that you would usually insert into your slides and you can apply this you know Prezi zoom effects using the slide zoom feature and heres just a couple of examples what you can insert you can insert infographics you can insert charts you know anything that you want [Music] so as always lets start by opening up the fresh blank new presentation lets set the layout to blank and the first step that we have to do we have to fill our slide with a nice background picture that covers the whole slide as always Im using unsplash.com and I will put a link in the video description of this exact photo that I am using as you can see the photo does not cover the whole slide so I just crop it to 16 by 9 align it to the top left corner of the slide and then I just drag this round bubble and cover the whole slide and let me make this photo just a little bit darker like - 30 % so the white text that we will put later on on top of this photogreat sounds like of course no problem of course I wont touch it totally let him do everything on something so they set everything up and they get on a cool little dangling rod and they have like a light and everythings perfect setup because the grandfather knows this stuff or they watch YouTube whatever but its perfect and so they wait and the kids all impatient and a week passes and finally like season start to move and then it cracks open and the butterfly starting to come out hes so excited hes doing five hes a five year old boy so he hes like I cant deal with this tension anymore I just helped the butterfly a little bit like geez it looks like hes stuck here Im just gonna help him a little and so he didnt even touch so carefully doesnt touch the butterfly he pulls a little piece of the chrysalis out hes like how well let me help me pulls a little nother piece out he pops the big piece out is that guys thats it and the butterfly falls out of the chrysalis and lays on the table and struggles a little bit and then dies and so of course the kids like just inconsolable crying upset and runs outline it should be relatively short right so yeah a couple pages you know whatever not a couple if youre more than a page per chapter in the outline its probably too long right although to be honest some people need to put more stuff in there on line and if you need to put more stuff thats okay just dont make sure youre not being too anxious but what a lot of anxious people will do is they will write their book in the outline dont do that the outline is just a device to get you to writing its not the thing youre trying to accomplish and theres no way to tell how long its gonna take for you to do your outline it depends how much time did you spend on it and how hard you work and how well you know your subject and all of that stuff but I would say at least two hours would be like if youre really dialed in and you know your and you know whats going in your book and youve got an organized mind two hours is probably the fastest you can do an outline I would say the average is probably three to five hours so four hours its pretty good for most people anything over four hours and either real live conversation break your presentation make your audience do something let them think of a question or click a button or something like that of course at the end of the presentation make sure that the learners are engaged in some form of discussion or reflective activity so its not just you talking to them for 20 minutes without any interaction from their side to number-6 connect on the emotional level you can read my previous blogs about the way we fascinate others and about the role of emotions online but I just very briefly will tell you again that online environment is very emotional and if you use learners emotions if you make them if if you provoke some sort of curiosity or joy or even anger sometimes through certain degree you will get their attention and you will have this engagement that you want for your presentation so dont forget that youre not just a provider of information you are a relationship builder so emotions are very very important and powerful in the online tax tool number seven if you do use the PowerPoint and use this screencast to capture it use ten twenty thirty will be much more visible so as you can see we need to create these kind of you know round bubbles on our starting slide so lets do just that lets go to insert shapes and lets find this oval shape and while holding down a shift key lets draw a perfect circle for the outlines lets make it white and lets add a weight of 6 points and for the fill itself lets make it a little bit transparent like 30 percent transparency and lets set the color palette do something nice blue I like this color palette old blue okay [Music] and now lets just duplicate this bubble a couple of times while holding down the control key lets make four bubbles and lets change their sizes so you know they have different sizes okay and now lets fill all of these bubbles with different colors from our blue color palette looks just beautiful [Music] okay now lets just insert a line lets make it white lets add a weight of six points and lets put this this line a couple of times between these bubbles so its like we will connect all of these bubbles with a couple of lines you know
