Q: Where are the classes held?
A: Tentatively, the new lodge next to beach 1. However this may change.
Q: I don't know how to get my child to the class, what should I do?
A: As the classes fill up I will connect the parents so we can come up with some kind of car pool. If absolutely nothing works I'll reimburse for the classes.
Q: I am not sure my child will like the class. What should I do?
A: Sign up for at least two sessions. If your child likes the class and the classes are not yet full you will be able to sign up for more sessions.
Q: Are emotional intelligence classes one day of the week duplicate the other day of the week?
A:
Older group: Yes. Because of high demand I am splitting the children into two groups once a week and will duplicate the content. The children should come only for the day of week they registered.
Younger group: No, the classes are more like practice sessions where kids will get an opportunity to learn to understand each other and express themselves by role playing and watching others communicate. While there are certain concepts that will be given to them during each class, we will often reiterate, so if somebody misses a class they will still be engaged the next class. Some people prefer to sign up for classes twice a week, and some prefer once a week, it's up to you.
Q: Are Scratch programming classes one day of the week duplicate the other day of the week?
A: No, these are self paced classes where I would help and guide them, so your child may choose to do it twice a week.
Q: Is computer programming going to be interesting to a child who is over 11 years old?
A: Absolutely. The minimal age is 7 years old, but the older kids will definitely enjoy creating the worlds, games and stories that are appropriate for their age and skills. It's a self paced course, so kids will each work on their own project or pair up based on their age. I will be there to help them when needed and challenge them so they learn different computer programming concepts.
Q: What does my child need for KhanAcademy Math?
A: A laptop/Chromebook/iPad/Android tablet and headphones. NOTE: iPads and Android Tablets ARE supported (I misinformed you earlier), but you need to install KhanAcademy app.
Q: What does my child need for Scratch Programming?
A: A laptop/Chromebook and headphones. NOTE: Scratch is NOT supported on iPads and Android Tablets
The following one-time adult activities may be offered during weekends (dates and times TBD). These classes will have limited space and will require an advanced sign up.
