On Tuesday, September 10th, TCOE hosted its annual College Night. Approximately 80 colleges from around the country set up booths where students of all ages around Visalia could start looking for new college options or learn more about where they want to go. College night was a free come-and-go event at the Visalia Convention Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Focusing on the logistics of the event, a college will send a representative or two with a booth with a variety of information. Not only can you ask questions about anything, including acceptance rates, programs, and chances of jobs afterward. Furthermore, you can also get cool gear—in addition, putting your name in their database so they get to know you before you even submit your application. A fellow student who attended, Ethan Gan, a Senior, had this to say, “I learned about a college that I never even knew about, and now it's in my top five.” Needless to say, even if you have a college you have set your mind on, it's always good to have a backup, and this night is a great opportunity to learn about more unknown colleges.
