November 6, 2024, is the day the presidential candidate for the next four years is selected, which is the name of election day. It is an important day for the country, for the new generation is getting older, which means they can vote. The two primary candidates are the Democratic Party’s Kamala Harris and the Republican Party’s Donald Trump. Some candidates dropped out to endorse one of the two main ones, such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr, who endorsed Donald Trump.

On election day, a portion of students missed the school day for an opportunity to be a poll worker with Margo Moore and Shania Rojas in Terra Bella, and most in Strathmore, such as Caleb Alsobrook, Ethan Gan, Alexis Salazar, Lucas Featherston, and Alex Rodriguez-Sanchez. A few weeks before November 6, the students were mandated to attend at least one, three-hour class to learn how to do their assigned job properly. Then, the day before the election, they drove to their poll place to set up their job-designated areas. On the day of voting, the students arrived at 6:00 AM, preparing for the crowds.

One of the few jobs assigned was provisional clerks, which Ethan Gan was. His sole job help first-time voters who did not pre-register in time for the deadline. Another situation he helps with is changing addresses if the voter moved, and he provides services for ‘out of county’ voters. For example, Ethan had to help out someone from San Bernardino who came over for work. His work, as well as the others, continues till the evening at 9:00 PM. At that time, the last bunch of voters finished, with Ethan Gan being the last one. For data, the number of new voters were counted, as well as the number of mailed ballots. Everything was cleaned up, and the students ended their day.
