With students getting their driver's license, it's very important to learn a skill that will save you so much time and stress if you learn it early instead of having to face it when it occurs. The skill I’m talking about is changing a tire. Changing a tire is very important for multiple reasons, but the main reason is that it can be deflated or popped very easily, and with that, a flat tire will occur more than other maintenance.
According to a Top Drive article titled “How to Change a Tire Safely,” it first states to safely park your car on an even surface, put the emergency brake on, and, for extra precaution, chock your tires with a heavy object that might be a rock. Then, usually located under your trunk floor mat, there will be a spare tire and a jack. Make sure the spare tire is at 60 PSI before going further. Then locate the flat tire, and with the jack, put it under the car around 2-3 inches alongside the vehicle towards the location of the flat tire and expand the jack to lift the car up. Once you get the jack expanded enough where the flat tire is barely touching the ground anymore, you are going to want to start removing the lug nuts to remove the flat tire, once you have removed the flat tire, put the spare tire on, tighten the lug nuts, lower the jack, tighten the lug nuts even more, and do NOT drive over 45 mph with a spare on. Now, there is no need for stress due to knowing how to change a tire.
