Grading of High School Campus

Park Construction is currently working on a rough grading project in a High School campus, located in Guangzhou, China. The project covers 16,770.13 m^2 of area that needs to be graded. Total volume of cut material that will be transported from the site is 6,013 m^3.

The Site Layout Plan shows the labeled zones, as well as our temporary facilities for workers and equipment. Temporary roads and fencing around the site has also been placed.

Project Schedule

Each activity start time depends on the completion of the predecessor. The project, based on our equipment and labour selection, will take about 17 days. The crew productivity is 76.7 m^3/hr.

Project Start Date: September 2, 2019

Project End Date: September 25, 2019

Work does not proceed on Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. During our project timeline, there is one Chinese holiday (September 13 - 15), The Mid-Autumn Festival.

Project Cost

Our team aims to reduce project costs for our clients by minimizing idle resources. We try our best to complete projects in the least amount of time and at the lowest cost possible.

On-site Safety Hazard and Risk Assessment

Park Construction values having a company built around safety culture with both the workers and public in mind.

Some possible risks to be had during construction are: dehydration, fatigue, complacency, mobilization of heavy equipment, and close proximity to traffic and the public.

In order to address these concerns, the following safety practices will be enforced:

      1. Mandatory PPE for all workers and site visitors within the construction site.
      2. Mandatory breaks for all workers.
      3. Weekly meetings to address safety concerns among other necessary items.
      4. Daily mandatory vehicle and equipment inspections.
      5. Traffic signage and speed limits around the construction site as well as inside.
      6. Flaggers in place for traffic when heavy equipment is entering or existing the site.
      7. Fencing around perimeter of site as well as warning signage.
      8. Designated walking path for public for navigation between the north and south campus.

Potential Impacts

Park Construction cares about the community we are building in and the potential impacts the surrounding community may feel during construction. While we always strive to minimize these impacts wherever possible, here is a list for the public to be aware of with remediations.

Traffic

Due to the trucks and equipment that will be moving in and out of the construction site on the east side, road users may notice higher volumes and slower moving times. To remediate this as much as possible, trucks and equipment will be limited to transportation in and out of the site during non-peak traffic hours. This will serve to benefit the school users as well as the productivity of the project.

Air Condition

With the consistent movement of heavy equipment, dust is expected to be an issue within the site as well as around the school buildings and nearby residences. To mitigate these effects, a water-tanker will spray the site with water at least three times a day for prevention. A screen will also be provided for the site perimeter to prevent dust particles from spreading.

The pollution from heavy machinery on site will also contribute to poor air conditions. To combat this, low sulfur diesel will be used as well as particulate filters will be placed on all vehicles.

Noise

Noise pollution will ultimately be amplified from the amount of equipment on site working at one time, inherently creating a disturbance during school hours. To reduce the noise heard by school users and residences of the community, mufflers will be placed on all vehicles. Also, temporary sound walls will be built close to the school buildings as these buildings are of high priority due to the construction work hours being the same time as school hours.

Environment

The immediate and surrounding environment will be impacted due to land disturbance as well as air and noise pollution from the construction site. To minimize impact from any immediate land disturbances, the surrounding tree lines will be left untouched as this will not serve as an entry point to the site, rather the east side of the road will be the only access point. Any temporary buildings will not be built near the existing tree line to minimize the chance of a possible spill affecting this area.

Air pollution is detrimental to the environment, and as previously mentioned, this will be dealt with spraying the site with water throughout the day as well as dust screens will be along the perimeter. While there are many other options for dust control, these options are the most viable due to the fact that no harmful chemicals are used.

Noise can also be a pollutant to the environment, such as disturbing nearby animals. Again, this will be mitigated with the noise mufflers on vehicles as well as sound barrier walls.
