Construction Activities

Environmental Concerns:

Dust and noise pollution. Decreasing the speed limits on site to 24km/hr for dump trucks and 4km/hr on site.
Mud and dirt on municipal roads.
Street sweeper will be used for cleaning mud on the road in close proximity of the construction site.

Traffic Concerns:

Pedestrian and student safety
Using proper signage, barricades and fencing to ensure the safety of pedestrians walking near the construction site.
A flagger will be located at the west entrance allowing students to safely walk from the south campus to the north campus.
Vehicle safety
Installation of stop signs at every entrance to the construction site. Yield signs installed 20m away from site entrances to warn incoming traffic of slow driving machinery

Site Concerns:

Emergency escape route
Muster point location at the east entrance 10m away from the fencing.
Dangerous working conditions
Proper lighting installed for work conducted in the morning.
Reflectors, hardhats, and steel toes required on site to maintain a safe work environment.
