:Waste Site
All topsoil and excess cut material will be transported to a waste site located 30km away from Xiao Long Bao High School.
:Potential Impacts from Construction
Campus
The occupants of the campus, surrounding infrastructure, and vehicles from neighboring businesses and homes are at risk during the construction period.
Campus occupants are exposed to the greatest risk during times when students are dropped off and picked up. CORA will adapt their morning and afternoon breaks times and pause construction during these times to mitigate risks to the staff and student body.
After the trucks leave to haul dirt to the waste site, the gates will be immediately closed and watched closely so that no students enter the work site. Many safety signs will be posted along the perimeter of the fence to warn the public of the dangers of the construction site.
Traffic
A potential issue with the semi truck on public roads is leaving dirt on the roads. This can be mitigated by ensuring trucks are not overfilled and using a cover so that the dirt stays in the bed of the truck during transport. If dirt does get on the roads, a sweeper can be brought in to clean up the mess.
Environment
With earthworks construction, dust production is always a concern. To reduce the amount of dust produced, CORA will use a water truck to dampen the dry soil.
Working next to a school increases the concern of noise pollution produced by heavy equipment. CORA will take care to reduce the noise produced, but it is in the nature of the work being done that the machines will be loud and will likely disrupt classes in some form.
