Potential Impact
A$AP technical department conducted comprehensive impact assessment after finishing earth moving work for this proposed project.
Among various fields of the impact, the main three most key aspects to investigate and discuss are chosen as environmental, economical and social.
Compared with other industries, construction activities is a main source of environmental pollution discussed most. Pollution sources from the construction process include harmful gases, noise, dust, solid and liquid waste. Construction participants, especially project managers, must have proper notion of environmental sustainability, and conduct the idea into daily construction and operation
Throughout the entire process of the high school grading project, the project engineers in A$AP Co. have integrated environmental sustainability into every task and minimized the negative impact of the construction. However, there is still noise, dust, and waste that may affect the environment afterwards.
- Noise pollution
Noise barriers and measuring instruments were installed to minimize the impact of noise pollution during construction activities and after.
- Air pollution
The air quality of construction site would be monitored to ensure that all activities were under suggested local guidelines. Also, in order to reduce the potential impact on air quality, more environmental friendly machines would put in use.
- Traffic influence
The traffic volume will increase after the earthwork was done, due to further construction activities. To help decrease the negative influences on local traffic flow, schedule needs to be adjusted according to school activities.
Looking at the bright side, more infrastructures and employment opportunities are created, even after the construction activities are finished. Once the entire project was complete, it provides a lot more available open space and benefits not just for high school students and teachers, also for residents living nearby. Even though more discussions and meetings need to be conducted before finalizing the purpose of this property, it can be predicted that it will attract more business investments and public attention.
Sustainability in society still requires analysis even after the completion of the entire grading project. This is where community safety and health need be considered as a priority. For long term considerations, the amount of energy consumption and gas emission is the main criteria in sustainability evaluation systems. By improving local sustainability systems, a higher productivity can be reached as time goes by.
