Crew and Machine Utilization

  • 2 crews independent crews are used to complete the project
  • Crew 1 consists of 1 excavator and 3 dozers
  • Crew 2 consists of 1 excavator and 17 dump trucks
  • This use of equipment will complete the job in the minimum amount of time

On-site Safety Hazard and Risk Assessment

Many potential hazards can exist on earthwork sites. Some of the follow are the most prevalent and will be managed throughout the project:

  • Slips and trips
  • Injury by machine
  • Unsafe air quality
  • Work taking place above
  • Embankment collapse

In order to mitigate these risk a safety officer will be assigned to the site. All required PPE will be determined on an on going basis and all personal will have appropriate safety certifications

Potential Impacts

Public Safety

  • A perimeter fence will be constructed to prevent the public from entering the active site.
  • a monitored crossing will be used to safely allow students and teachers access to the separate school facilities
  • All equipment driving on public roads will use caution and appropriate mitigating measures

Noise

  • Work days will be limited to regular hours to prevent disturbances to the surrounding communities at night.
  • Heavy equipment will use dampening material to limit the disturbance to the active nearby high school.

Environment

  • To limit the amount of dust released into the air. a calcium truck will be on stand-by at the site to water the site area and roads.
  • potential contamination of groundwater sources will be mitigated by ....
