WHY STUDY THIS SUBJECT?
An Art and Design course, irrespective of its level, should enrich the lives of pupils. A major factor is that of arousing interest in their immediate environment and encouraging personal responses to it, in order to become more visually aware. Central to this is the development of observation and an ability to interpret what is seen. The opportunity for pupils to express ideas, thoughts and feelings in their work is a key element at all levels within this subject. Art and Design offers creative and aesthetic experiences, together with ways of learning and communicating, which differ from those found in many other parts of the school curriculum.
