WHY STUDY THIS SUBJECT?
Physics provides insight into the underlying nature of our world and its place in the Universe. From the sources of the power we use, to the exploration of space, it covers a range of applications of the relationships that have been discovered through experiment and calculation, including those used in modern technology.
DESCRIPTION OF COURSE IN S3:
The work in Physics will continue to progress the work from S1 and S2 which is based on the 3rd Level experiences and outcomes. The S3 course extends to the 4th Level experiences and outcomes relating to Space, Waves, Forces and Electricity. The course seeks to further develop skills relating to practical investigation and research investigation.
ASSESSMENT APPROACHES:
Assessment in S3 physics will focus on the pupil‘s knowledge and understanding of physics concepts, problem solving, practical investigations, research investigations, scientific numeracy and literacy.
Teachers will gather evidence as part of day-to-day learning, while specific tasks will be set to assess progress at key points of learning.
POSSIBLE CAREERS!
Physics is a very useful subject to have if you are interested in a career which involves anything of a technical nature. So it might be useful for a career in engineering, telecommunications, and car mechanics, teaching, sound engineering, medicine, computing, architecture, and the electronics industry.
