WHY STUDY THIS SUBJECT?
The course provides a practical opportunity for learners to develop both generic and subject specific skills in administration-related contexts. Within the S3 Admin & I.T. course, students will study administrative, entrepreneurial, problem solving, decision making and ICT skills from the 3rd and 4th level outcomes and experiences.
DESCRIPTION OF COURSE IN S3:
The purpose of this course is to develop learners’ skills in IT, problem solving and using the following IT applications – presentation software, desktop publishing, email, e-diary, word processing, spreadsheets, databases – and will use them to create and edit business documents.
Learners will also develop an understanding of the office and work environments by studying topics such as recruitment and selection, health and safety and customer service.
This is very much a skills-based subject and so pupils will learn about the subject and develop skills through practical, task-based lessons throughout the year.
ASSESSMENT APPROACHES:
In S3 the assessment builds on from S1/2 where we use a combination of tasks which allow students to show what they have learnt, this may take the form of presentations, group work, peer assessment, class tests and/or portfolios.
