External course providers.
There are a range of courses available to school pupils that are provided by different external course providers. A list of these courses can be found on the next page. A short description of the course providers is explained below.
College & VLA Courses Friday delivery—Face to Face or Online
Pupils can only choose one option from the Friday delivery
Pupils choosing on online course need to be prepared to be self disciplined and able to learn independently.
College & VLA Level 5/6/7 Courses Virtual, self Study or Evening Classes
Only 1 option can be selected from the HC Virtual Timetable choices.
It is possible to choose 1 option from the Virtual timetable and 1 option from the Friday college classes.
Evening classes are not recommended for S4/5 pupils as they are over and above the school subject requirement and are not linked to the school in any way.
Pupils choosing on online course need to be prepared to be self disciplined and able to learn independently.
E-Sgoil online courses—S5-6
E-sgoil online courses are being offered for pupils across all schools in Scotland for session 2025-2026.
If any pupils are interested in one of these courses they should add it to their option form, but also choose a reserve (in addition to the main one) in case it isn't possible to move forward with an e-Sgoil course. Pupils choosing on online course need to be prepared to be self disciplined and able to learn independently.

Highland Digital School courses.
Highland Virtual Academy courses are taught by teachers from schools across Highland. Currently only Advanced Higher subjects are available.
If any pupils are interested in one of these courses they should add it to their option form, but also choose a reserve (in addition to the main one) in case it isn't possible to move forward with a course. It may be possible to choose two courses from the Highland Digital School list. Pupils choosing on online course need to be prepared to be self disciplined and able to learn independently.
