DESCRIPTION OF COURSE IN S3:
The work in Biology will continue to progress the work from S1 and S2 which is based on the 3rd Level Experiences and Outcomes. The S3 course extends to the 4th Level experiences and outcomes relating to Body Systems and Cells, Inheritance, Biodiversity and Interdependence. The course seeks to further develop skills relating to practical investigation and research investigation.
ASSESSMENT APPROACHES:
Assessment in S3 biology will focus on the pupil‘s knowledge and understanding of biological concepts, problem solving, practical investigations, research investigations, scientific numeracy and literacy.
Teachers will gather evidence as part of day-to-day learning, while specific tasks will be set to assess progress at key points of learning.
