WHY STUDY THIS SUBJECT?
Physical Education encompasses a wide range of different activities. Your Broad General Education in PE will allow you to participate in a variety of different activities that will include some of the following categories: team, individual, directly competitive, indirectly competitive, creative, cultural and health and fitness.
DESCRIPTION OF COURSE IN S3:
The course will build on prior knowledge and experience from S1 and S2 in order to target level four Outcomes and Experiences within the wide range of activities we offer. You will study PE for three periods a week, 2 of these will be practical based in the Gym, and one will be more theory orientated in a classroom.
ASSESSMENT APPROACHES:
Teachers will gather evidence of progress as part of day-to-day learning. Specific practical assessment tasks will also be set to assess progress at key points of learning. Your child could have small written end of block tests to complete as well as working collaboratively within a group setting to present content to the rest of the class in a more traditional theory based classroom setting. Your child will gain knowledge and understanding throughout this course, however the theory will predominantly be applied through practical sessions.
