Mixed Media

Artist Statement:

For the value strip, I had to create three different strips with three different materials. For my mixed media drawing, I decided to choose and organic picture to reference. I wanted a lot of contrast in my picture, and I wanted to make sure that the picture was good quality, so I chose the photo you see.

In both of these projects I used some of the following: Charcoal sticks, white charcoal sticks, kneaded erasers, HB, 6B, 2B graphite pencils, and ink pens.

For my value strip, I used the three different materials to create a variation of shades from dark to light. For my mixed media drawing, I referenced a photo and copied what I saw onto a piece of paper. I had to pay very close attention to the different values here. I also used the grid method to slowly draw this photo.
