Acrylic Paint, Colored Pencil, Marker

Artist Statement:

For this assignment, we were given a piece of paper with a blot or two of ink on it. We were supposed to turn this "blot" into something that we saw in it, for example, someone might see a panda while another person might see a balloon. I struggled at first to choose what I could turn mine into. At last, it reminded me a little of a paint blot on a pallet, so that's what I made t into using some leftover colors.

In this piece, I used graphite pencils, a sharpie marker, various acrylic paint colors, markers, and Prismacolor pencils. A lot of my design was based on experimentation with various materials.

My first step was choosing what I would create. After I had done this, I sketched out the shape of the pallet with graphite pencils. I went over the pallet with a lightly applied colored pencil. I went over this, and the edges, with brush markers to make the color more defined. Then I added the paint as if I were using a real pallet, adding several layers.
