Time Capsules

Artist Statement:

For these three drawings, I was required to do observational work. One of them was supposed to be a portion of my face, one a drawing of my hand in an interesting pose, and another of one or more objects that I found interesting. For the last one I used a pear-shaped candle and a pencil sharpener. For all of these drawings, I was supposed to use only about 20 minutes each.

In all three cases, the only materials that I used were graphite pencils and Sharpie pens, otherwise the only other thing was drawing paper.

To start off in each drawing, I did a rough sketch of the proportions. I then refined these lines and proportions until they were accurate. After I did that, I went in and shaded a little. Lastly, I added more contrast to all of these in the end, which made them realistic.
