Artist Statement:

The purpose of each of these perspective drawings was to help me improve my skills in perspective drawing, except for the School Perspective drawing, which was a Summative Assessment to test me on my skills. The for the 1 and 2 Point Perspective drawings, I had to do five shapes above my horizon line and five shapes below. The Interior Perspcetuve was different because this time I had to make a somewhat realistic room from my imagination, which was harder. Finally, for my School Perspective, I chose to draw the science wing at Freeport High School, and this required a lot of detail because it had to look very realistic.

For each of these pieces, the only material I used was graphite pencils, such as the 2H, HB, 4B, and 6B graphite pencils. I suppose another material that could be considered is a blending tool, as well as a one-foot metal ruler.

All of my perspective drawings started with one or two vanishing points. From these vanishing points, I was able to connect lines (which I turned into shapes or objects) to give everything an accurate perspective. For some of the pieces, I also added shading to emphasize differing perspectives. Finally, the only other thing I did (in the case of my School Perspective drawing) was referenced a photo to make sure my work was accurate and realistic.
