Artist Statement:

For this piece of artwork, we were required to choose two or more elements from our "Elements & Principles of Design" worksheet (featured above) and incorporate them into a piece of art. I mostly focused on pattern and color, but I also added elements like space, shape, value, and lines into my piece as well.

I used the following materials in my artwork: a Sharpie marker, a fine-tipped pen, graphite pencils, colored pencils, and colorful markers. My work was done on bristol board paper.

At first, I figured out that I wanted to do a bunch of different patterns in my piece, sectioned out in some way. When I figured out the random assortment of lines, I partially referenced and partially made up a bunch of different patterns to fill out my art. After I did this, I went back through and colored some patterns that I had drawn, but not all — This was very intentional, though I have no explanation for it. Once I had colored it, I went in and touched up most of the details that I could see needed fixing.
