Acrylic Paint on Canvas Paper
Artist Statement:
For this assignment, I had to incorporate a lot of color value. My painting needed to have 12 preselected colors with three shades and three tints on each. With this in mind, I chose a still life depicting the above objects. I knew that the fruit would have lots of color and the glassy surfaces would have lots of light value, both of which would make my task easier to complete.
For this piece, the sole material that I used was acrylic paint, though of many different shades. I completed the work on a piece of canvas paper.
To begin, I developed an idea for my color design, and I chose the above picture for the reasons aforementioned. Then, I sketched out the objects. After that was done, I mixed one color, making three shades and three tints of it. I then applied the mixed color to the canvas. I repeated this process eleven additional times until I had met all of the requirements. Finally, I went back and added details and fixed up some areas in the attempt to polish my painting.
