Sportfight Scotland returns to Lanark auction Market on Saturday 14th May with a card featuring some of Scotland’s finest up and coming professional fighters. As the “ home” show for the Dinky Ninja Fight Team (DNFT) , the most established and successful team in Scotland, it’s no surprise to find seven of the 11 fights featuring combatants from Ninja affiliated gyms.
In the main event Martin Delaney (DNFT), who recently made his professional debut after a successful semi pro run, is looking to secure his second professional victory over Ireland’s Stephen Kingsbury (EFR), who is looking to record his first win. The fight takes place at a 73KG catch weight which would indicate Delaney, who fought welterweight at semi pro, may being considering fighting professionally at lightweight.
DNFT bantamweight Brian Hyslop who won his pro debut at SFC 3 in October takes on Fighters Hives Darren Gilchrist who defeated the overmatched Peter Smith at On Top 1 in February. Hyslop, who recently won his division at the BJJ Scotia cup event, should provide a much tougher test for Gilchrist in what should be an exciting fight.
Fresh from his impressive stoppage of Andy Hillhouse at SFC 4 Heavyweight Rab “Baloo” Truesdale of Hostile Territory looks to impress against DNFT’s Tam Watson. Truesdale who rendered Hillhouse helpless when he took top position in his recent bout will have a tougher time getting experienced wrestler Watson to the mat and although he has never competed in MMA at any level Watson showed he is submission savvy by outpointing Demien Maia Black Belt and Team Unity coach Marcello “Manga” Fraguas at the recent Scottish Grappling Challenge No Gi event. With heavyweights thin on the ground a win could propel Watson near the top of the Scottish rankings.
Garry Ward (DNFT) will be looking to get back on track following his recent loss to Graham Armstrong when he takes on Cumnock’s Mark Young from Asylum MMA in a B class pro encounter at 73KG. Mark, who made his Pro Debut at last SFC3 welterweight tournament as a short notice replacement will undoubtedly be better prepared for Ward who is looking for his first pro win.
An undercard of exciting Semi professional MMA and a Muay Thai fight will precede the pro bouts.
Tickets are still available for what promises to be an entertaining evening featuring the future stars of Scottish MMA and can be obtained from the fighters themselves or:
