Bad Boy Pro Series 2.0 Focus Pad Review
The new Bad Boy Pro Series 2.0 Focus Pads are part of the improved and redesigned range from Bad Boy; keeping all the best features from the Pro Series 1 range but improving them to create their most technical and advanced training range to date.
Anyone who has trained in a striking martial art has hit and held pads for someone and we all know there is nothing worse than using a cheap, poorly constructed pair of focus pads with bits of fluff hanging out the side of them. Usually hitting them brings more pain than pleasure but not with these Bad Boy's!
First Impression
Straight out of the box I was impressed with these. Very lightweight but sturdy and they have some great features that I will talk about later.
Design
Let's face it, we all want something that looks the part and you won't need to sneak these into your house under a sheet, these pads are so sleek and attractive that you can introduce them to your parents on day one. The pads are curved which make them great for catching punches. They are made from premium quality leather(anything made from leather is cool) and they have little air vents on the back of the pads so that your mates sweaty little hands don't stink out your new pads when he 'borrows' them from you.

Craftsmanship
These pads were hand crafted by 108 year old one armed Nepalese man in the Himalayas! Ok maybe not but they are very well made. The stitching on the pads is serious! They are not to soft, not to hard but nice and firm.
Protection
We all know protection is important boys and girls and these mitts have some great features including extra padding at the back of the pad to protect the wrist, a concave shaped pad to prevent jarring of the wrist and a grip ball fitted inside the pad which gives extra protection to the hand and improves the sweet spot in the centre of the pad.
Comfort
So comfortable that you could sleep with these on! The grip ball inside these mitts is a great addition and make for a nice fit. It also gives you great overall control of the pad. They fit nicely onto the hand so you don't have to try and shoe horn your hands in there like you do with some pads (wasting 45 secs of your minute rest trying to get your pads on) and they have a dual velcro strap system that lets you wear them as tight or loose as you wish.
The Hit Test
Ok so I strapped on my 14oz boxing gloves (I didn't wrap my hands) and blasted out a few rounds on these mitts and I have to say I was impressed again. They had a very nice sweet spot and a great pop to them when you hit it. I've hit pads before where my hands were in bits after it (even with wraps on) and I've hit pads that were like pillows but these were pretty much spot on.
The Hold Test
So I'm strapped in and ready to rock and as I have punches fired at me left and right. You can tell these have been built to resist high impact, again the sweet spot and pop they have is awesome! I feel no discomfort at all throughout the rounds and they remain in perfect position at all times thanks to the grip ball and double velcro strapping.
Overall Summary
If you are in the market for a set of focus pads then I would highly recommend these, they are different gravy! The have everything you would look for, style, comfort, protection, I have used these a few times now and I can't pick any faults in them at all.
