Cage Warriors 50
International fight promotion Cage Warriors rolled into Glasgow with high
anticipation Saturday night bringing a high class production, a host of action packed, technical fights and possibly one of the best takedown attempts ever seen by Ahsan Gilani....(Just kidding) the crowd expected fireworks and they definitely got them. The Kelvinhall sports arena has hosted numerous mixed martial arts events this year mainly by top local promotions OnTop and Vision both of which provide a high quality show.
The excellent matchmaking brought a host of great action packed fights and a great technical battle between Aaron Wilkinson and Alan Johnston as well as a brutal fight between Wilson Reis and Owen Roddy which straightaway got some fight of the year mentions. Main event fighter and locally based fan favourite Paul McVeigh was matched up against Bandon Hempleman in a fast paced battle but unfortunately wasn't able to pull out the win.
For those unlucky enough to miss the show, Cage Warriors streamed the show live worldwide and also had a television taping that will air on Sky Sports 4.
The presence of mixed martial arts on TV in the UK is great and it shows how committed Cage Warriors are to their product and the evolution of mixed martial arts within the UK and the world. They also deserve a mention for the promotions use of social media, the fans were constantly updated with information on the show and promotion on the days leading up to and after the event via their Facebook page and Twitter.
