Ever since Royce Gracie was submitting one gloved boxers in the UFC, the Bad Boy brand has been renowned in MMA. Known for it’s top of the range MMA apparel, aswell as it’s casual clothes, the brand is perhaps less known for it’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi. I have one of the Bad Boy gi’s, and have really put it to the test over the last year. Here are my thoughts on the GI, as a BJJ practitioner enthusiast and competitor.

Fit:Over the last year I’ve worn the gi what must be hundreds of times and washed it hundreds more. To my joy/surprise having had other gis, the fit has NEVER changed. My A2 fits me comfortably and perfectly from day one, and that hasn’t changed. Also, the bottoms rarely slide off or come loose, a problem I;ve had with other gis that I have owned. From teh first time I put it on I could feel the quality and this has been proved as I can say taht the GI is well and trully robust and hard wearing. I don’t worry when people grab it, that it’s gonna get ripped (actually not something I can say about every gi I’ve owned).
Longevity: Despite the amount of times I’ve worn, competed in, and washed the gi, it still looks, and feels, good as new. The Bad Boy branding has not decayed or faded (the logos are pretty sweet by the way, I’m glad they haven’t faded) and there is very little wear and tear on it. Considering I wear the gi at least 3 times a week for intense BJJ sessions, and have done so for well over a year, that’s pretty impressive.
Value for money: As an Aberdonian, this is obviously my main concern when buying a gi. Whilst not the cheapest gi on the market, when it comes to gis, if you buy cheap, you’ll buy often. Despite needing a gi 3 times a week for training, and competing at every competition I can, I only have one gi. The Bad Boy gi is the only one you need, for the reasons I’ve written above. I use it more than any one gi has a right to cope with, but the gi has passed with flying colours!
Weight: As a competitor, the weight of the gi can be imperative come comp day. This gi is on the heavier side, but that’s a sacrifice worth making for this kind of quality!
Style: as an Aberdonian, this is obviously the least of my concerns. Just look at the pictures. It’s easily the most stylish gi out there! Nothing I can say is gonna convince you more than the photos.
All in all, I can’t recommend this gi enough. Whether you train BJJ 6 times a week, compete often or dare I say even if you just want a flashy gi that looks nice, Badboys range of GI are a solid product tat wont let you down on the mat. See you on the mat .
