Immortals Fight Night starts with an exhibition bout between Leon Mitchell and Aidan Stephen.
It is customarily scored a draw, Stephen was the more dominant fighter showing off some crisp striking and mixing in some fine groundwork. Mitchell floored Stephen in the second and landed a couple of big suplexes in what was a good workout for both fighters.
Euan MacLeod defeats Daniel Sawinski by unanimous decision.
The pace picked up here with both fighters coming out swinging. MacLeod got the sweeter connections rocking Sawinski once or twice.
The second round was all change as Sawinski employed his wrestling to secure two takedowns to even things up going into the third.
MacLeod evened up the takedown game early in the round moving straight to side control. He didn't get settled there and Sawinski took the opportunity to reverse the position. MacLeod fought his way back to top position and ended the fight standing with Sawinski in guard using his feet to fend off the big punches that MacLeod was throwing.
A deserved win for MacLeod who showed a varied skill set in his C Class debut.
Kevin McAloon defeats Dariusz Pawlak by 1st Round Submission (Armbar)
McAloon made quick work of his C Class debut with a first round submission win.
He secured a takedowm in half guard from the off, but had to fight off a guillotine attempt. He got Pawlak's arm off and moved into mount where he transitioned and streched out the arm to get the tap.
Matthew Greig defeats Dawid Kostecki by 1st Round Submission (2:38, Rear Naked Choke)
Greig moved to 2-0 with his second consecutive submission finish. He got the fight to the ground early and got into a dominant position by passing Kostecki's guard from standing. From there Greig then took Kostecki's back from a scramble.
Greig patiently chipped away with punches while trying to flatten Kostecki out. He got the arm under the throat, but was stifled before sitting back and getting it again. Kostecki tried to fight the arms away, but was unable and was forced to tap.
Good night of fights so far at the Ballroom as the semi pro fights come to an end.
As is often the case, grappling has proven the difference in all three C class fights with the superior grappler winning. From a patriotic point of view, good to see Scotland going 3-0 so far and from a personal point of view, chuffed to see my mates Kevin and Matthew racking up the first round subs!
Artem Lobov defeats Kamil Gnadiek by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
"The Prospect Killer" lived up to his moniker as he rode out a rough first round to defeat Kamil Gnadiek (5-2).
Gnadiek had control of the opening frame as he scored a takedown and managed to get the back after Lobov wall walked to his feet. From there Gnadiek attempted to sink in the choke, but couldn't get his arm under the chin.
Gnadiek came out tired from his efforts in the first and Lobov took control of the round with his striking. Gnadiek was almost just standing getting tagged and Lobov was comfortable keeping out of his opponent's range. He got too comfortable however and Gnadiek scored a takedown. Lobov fought back to his feet quickly and started to punish his opponent from a standing guard position.
Lobov continued the good work in the third. Again using his striking and stifling a takedown to get into position to rain down strikes.
Agnieszka Niedzwiedz defeats Irina Rach by 1st Round Submission (Armbar)
Maciej Linke defeats Alexander Proder by 1st Round Submission (2:56, Rear Naked Choke)
Mariusz Abramiuk defeats John Cullen by 1st Round Technical Submission (3:02, Rear Naked Choke)
And that's that.
Fun night of fights in Aberdeen with quite the boisterous crowd!
