On Top PromotionsWhen the Gracie clan thought up the UFC concept they never thought It would be the world wide phenomena that it has turned into .
MMA is now the worlds fastest growing sport , with new promotions and events being held every week through out the whole of the world.
This weekend saw Scotland’s first all Pro fight card .
On Top Promotions put first there first show in the grand surroundings of Celtic park . The stacked card showcased the finest MMA fighters that Scotland has to offer .When the action started the atmosphere in the venue was electric, early bought saw wins for Gilchrist , Wright and Armstrong ( details of wins below) .
Scott Ward vs Ryan Scopes saw most of the fight play out on the the mat, with Scopes stronger skill set allowing him to secure the mount, secure a strong base and good posturing ,
to take the win with some good old GNP.Marcos Nardini one of Scotlands only black belt BJJ instructors put in a three round ground fighting master class in his fight with Paster, to take his pro record to 2 and 0 .My personal fight if the night saw Robert Whiteford and David Galbraith do battle, this was an exciting class of the featherweight . This fight proved the 4 oz gloves provide fireworks.
The 1st round was fairly even, both fighter exchanging low kicks, Galbraith landed one high kick in the 2 nd round , releasing the fireworks with both fighters upping there game and really going for it .
In the final exchange of the fight Whiteford landed a monster right hand that sent Galbraith to the canvas already unconscious . Whiteford finished the fight with a barrage of punches before the ref stepped in.
After the fight Robert told me that “the KO was unexpected as Galbraith is a very durable opponent “. He expressed great gratitude to his team fro getting him ready for the fight . The main event James “Disco” Doolan vs Michal HamrsmidIn the early exchanges both fighters did well in the cage,
the fight went to the mat where Doolan was very busy on the bottom with his elbows opening a nasty cut on Hamrsmids head the next to rounds were both the same with the fight on the ground .
So off to the score cards we went , both fighters took one judge each with the 3 scoring the fight even. The fight was a draw , neither fighter was happy with the result . The 1st On Top Promotion is now over and it was a resounding success, with a full house of very satisfied fight fans, on a night when there was a plethora of MMA on the TV for free,
it was good to see fight fans supporting this new and exciting Scottish promotion .Illegal Hunter Edited by Wang
