Pediatric Dermatology Rotation Guide

Welcome to the Pediatric Dermatology department! We are excited to have you join our clinic and learn about the conditions that we treat.

As a Pediatrician or Family Practitioner, you are likely to see many skin complaints in children over your career (probably more than you expected!). It is our goal that you are sufficiently trained in the diagnosis and management of the most common skin conditions in children. In addition, it is important to know when children should be referred for further work-up of their skin condition.

Although you will see a wide variety of conditions while rotating through clinics, the time will be insufficient to cover even the most important topics. Thus, we have created a study-guide that includes training modules and articles that we would like you to complete/read while rotating with us. Although this is meant to be a self-guided learning experience, we are happy to answer any questions or provide more training on topics as needed or desired.

Attendance:

We understand that you are pulled in several directions during your rotation. If you will be missing a clinic or know that you will be late for a clinic, please email the provider that you are scheduled to work with.

Modules:

The pediatric dermatology modules can be found on the American Academy of Dermatology website. https://www.aad.org/

Go to “Education” à “Basic Derm Curriculum” and click the link “teaching and learning guides.” Scroll down and click “Pediatric Dermatology”

Survey:

Our goal is to maximize your dermatologic exposure so that you feel comfortable caring for the most common skin disorders. We are keeping track of how we are doing so that we can make this as beneficial to our residents as possible. Please fill out your survey at the end of the rotation.
