CACH II Community Eye Photo Essay

Community Eye:

Seeing the World through the

Eyes of a Child

"You can see a lot, just by looking" - Yogi Berra, New York Yankees catcher.

Why do you do what you do? If you are like me, you became a pediatrician to care for kids, to make a difference. Ensconced high on Marquam Hill, we are about as far removed from the community we serve as we possibly be. We lack the relationship to the people and place that we might wish for, and that can lead us to forget why we work so hard, and what we are really hoping to achieve.

During your time on the CACH 2 rotation, we would love to help remind all of us why we are pediatricians in Portland.

Spend some time exploring our community- places you know, and places you don’t. Take photos of things that speak to you and illustrate our fair city, warts and all, to serve as a constant reminder to keep us focussed, grounded, and passionate.

I would love to see 10-20 photos, as artistic or as pedestrian as you like. Our goal is to create a living photo essay that serves as a constant reminder of who and what our community actually is, and why we do what we do.

We will use these photos to create an evolving photo essay- a constant reminder of our community, good and bad, of what it is like to be a kid here, and to inspire us to continue doing great things for kids.
