Welcome Email

Dear CACH resident,

Welcome to the Doernbecher Gender Clinic!

We are excited to have you join our interdisciplinary clinic.

If you are assigned to morning clinic, we have gotten permission for you to miss morning report if you would like to join the 8:30 am visit; otherwise you can join after morning report.

We have a hybrid model of virtual and face to face clinic appointments (face to face appointments happen at the Doernbecher Happy Valley site on Tuesdays and the Doernbecher Cornell West site on Fridays). Please check the clinic schedule to see if patients are scheduled as virtual or in person. You are welcome to attend any in person appointments. Otherwise, we invite you to join the virtual visits on the schedule through Epic/zoom. If most of the visits are virtual, it makes the most sense for you to attend only the virtual visits because there are not many open work spaces at the clinic sites to join the virtual visits there.

If you have the chance, I encourage you to read about the patients on the schedule prior to the clinic you will be joining. The clinic context in Epic is “Ped Endocrinology CW” (Fridays) and “Ped endo HV” (Tuesdays). The new patients all have a phone intake with our social worker, Jess Guerriero, so you can look for their notes.

When we have residents or students join our clinic, we typically have them listening in and documenting in the clinic note. We have a clinic note template we use, and the dot phrase is .GDCLINICNOTE (you can search for it in the SmartPhrases to gain access to it)

I am attaching some articles for your reference. The Olson and Pine articles are great overviews of gender affirming care for youth.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
