This experience is based on a paper written by Moon and Gitterman (2000) which introduced a resident shopping trip completed during the ambulatory curriculum of their residency program. The purpose of the shopping trip was to provide residents with an experience simulating that of a new parent attempting to purchase items necessary for infant care.
We hope this provides you with valuable knowledge and skills to share with your patients and families. You can go shopping in as many different stores as you wish or choose to shop on the web. Please think of other items you think we should add to our shopping list.
