Chapter Eight Comments
-The scene with Hakan and E. Honda was inspired by Hakan's ending with the added creative liberty to fit with this story's universe.
-Because I plan to have Hakan's family be with him during the Shikoken Tournament, I took the liberty to give his wife and 7 daughters names. The fact that his daughters were named in alphabetical order from oldest to youngest was done on purpose in order for me to keep track of their age placement.
-The flashback scene in the beginning of the second scene was taken from Stryker's introduction scene in Chapter 4.
-The main purpose of having Stryker and Bruce appear in this scene was to introduce Hotaru.
-Bruce mentioning how Stryker rescuing citizens from a speeding bus 'sounding like it was from a movie' is not only a nod to Stryker's MK9 bio, but also a nod to the mention's origin, the movie Speed.
-While writing this scene, I found that Hotaru knowing the identity of the CEO of G-Corp would make more sense for his character... I believe his nature would not allow him to join G-Corp to fight against the Mishima Zaibatsu otherwise.
-Since his last two introductions had a mission involving fights, I've decided to forgo the fight part in Raven's introduction for this story.
-To honor their grandfather Gen, who was mentioned to have died during the Blood Tournament, I decided to have Yun and Yang name their current restaurant after the original Genhanton.
-In order to save pages and scene, I decided to have R. Mika show up in this chapter along with Yun, Yang, and Maki's introduction.
-Maki being in Hong Kong rather than her homeland, Japan, was explained during the events of Ano Sentaku Bou and was even hinted at during her and Yang's last scene.
-A mention of a customer who once tried to order six scorpion bowls was actually a nod to the movie, Eight Crazy Nights.
-The character Hoimei is someone associated with Yun and Yang in the Street Fighter universe, most prominently as Yun's girlfriend. Initially in this series, I mentioned her and her sister, Shaomei, having moved prior to the Blood Tournament. I decided to at least bring Hoimei back in this story, and of course hinted as such in this chapter.
-Originally, I was going to have Ermac appear in the Outworld scene with Li Mei and Bo' Rai Cho. The scene would have been longer and with them talking to Fujin about their trip to Earthrealm. However, that plan changed once I got wind of his role in MKX. I had another story for him planned beforehand, but inspired by MKX, I decided to go in another direction with Ermac. Thus, the Outworld scene with Bo' Rai Cho and Li Mei is short and to the point.
-The scene with Dudley and Eagle was somewhat inspired by Dudley's part of the story in the Street Fighter x Tekken PS Vita 'movie.'
-The Walt Whitman quote on the boulder in Dudley's garden was picked as being the best reflection of the type of garden I imagine Dudley sees it as.
-Haggar running for President of the United States was inspired by his ending in Marvel vs Capcom 3.
-Lucia Morgan was one of the playable characters from Final Fight 3.
-Cody mentioned driving a pink Volkswagen Beetle was a nod to how he got to the Rockies back in Ano Sentaku Bou.
-Jessica Haggar calling the cat food Whiskas 'whiskey' by accident, as well as mention 'it's not like I'm drunk' was a nod to her calling whiskey 'Whiskas' while drunk in my fic, The Hero of Metro City.
-Maru's take-out restaurant is an actual nod to a similarly-named take-out place my boyfriend and I used to frequent before it closed down.
-Originally, I was going to have Liu Kang only talk to Guy, who would pass on the message to Cody, but decided to have him visit them both separately instead for dramatic effect in story-telling.
