Biography

Once a respected sumo wrestler, Ganryu had been the youngest fighter to ever gain the 'Ozeki' rank. Many thought he would soon earn the 'Yokozuna' title, but he was eventually dishonorably discharged from sumo due to his immoral style. This led him to a life of crime, including a brief stint under the Mishima Zaibatsu. More than twenty years later, he turned his life around, establishing a sumo stable in Hawaii and hopes for a luxurious retirement. He attended the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 in hopes of recovering the reforestation data for a woman he fell in love with after the war; Julia Chang. He succeeded, but found out that Julia was already in a committed relationship.

When the Mishima Zaibatsu announces the Shikoken Tournament, Ganryu attends for two reason; to promote his new restaurant, Chanko Paradise, and to defeat the Mishima Zaibatsu in order to impress Julia.
