Interested in pursuing studies in math or science? The Mathematics Behind the Science Bridge Program (STEM) is now accepting applications from high school students for their 2013 Summer Program. The Program runs from June 17 to July 27, 2013. Review the application and requirements at http://ecs.uvi.edu/.
The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands is now accepting applications for their 2013 undergraduate scholarship program. High School seniors can visit their website atwww.cfvi.net to copy the application. To qualify for a CFVI scholarship, a student must:
· be a graduate of a high school in the U.S. Virgin Islands;
· be currently enrolled in or have applied for admission to, an accredited four-year institution with a program leading to a Bachelor's degree;
· have completed at least 2 semesters of study by June 2013 with a minimum 2.5 GPA, for those scholarships that require college enrollment;
· demonstrate financial need
The application must include the following:
· Virgin Islands high school diploma as applicable
· Proof of U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident status
· Recent passport-type photograph (Signing this form consents to use of photo in the media)
· Certified 2012 tax return(s) if available (a copy) or Certified 2011 tax return(s) for parents/guardians and/or student (as applicable)
· Most recent official high school or college transcript as applicable (copy of current semester grades should be submitted as soon as available)
· Financial aid award letter from college (if not available at deadline, submit as soon as received)*
· Three (3) letters of reference (an academic reference, a supervisor of an outside activity or employer, and a guidance counselor or principal if you are a high school student)
· The Student Aid Report (SAR) received after filing your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). * Be sure to include the page with the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
· An essay of about 500 words written by the applicant discussing his/her passions or aspirations in life.
LIST OF SCHOLARSHIPS
· A-9 VI Recycling INC. Scholarships: Two scholarships of $5,000 each to graduating high school seniors pursuing a degree in environmental science or related field.
· Alexander A. Farrelly: One $1,000 Scholarship in early childhood or health sciences
· Artrelle M. Wheatley Scholarship: One year full tuition to the University of the Virgin Islands, to a student with an outstanding record in community service who will have completed two semesters at UVI by June 2011.
· Barry Law Enforcement Scholarship: Awarded to a graduating senior of Charlotte Amalie High School pursuing a degree in Law Enforcement.
· Charaf Family Scholarship: Two $1,000 scholarships preferably in the arts.
· Coral World Scholarship: $3,500 to a student pursuing a four-year degree in science at any accredited college or university, with first preference going to applicants in the fields of environmental science or marine biology.
· Heavy Materials: 4-year scholarships of up to $3,750 a year to high school seniors who have, or whose parents have, resided in the USVI for at least 10 years, to attend college, technical or vocational school.
· Glacial Energy Business Scholarship: Awarded to a 2012 graduating public school senior pursuing an education at UVI in the business field who demonstrates exceptional academic performance, leadership, community service and extracurricular activities, as well as the need for financial assistance. The amount of the scholarship is full UVI tuition for a full time student.
· Government Employee Retirement System Scholarships: Up to three renewable grants of approximately $3,500 each to a graduating high school student from St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix who are dependents of contributing members of GERS.
· Isaac and Rebecca Paiewonsky Scholarship: $2,000 per year for up to four years, to a graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School.
· Lana Vento Scholarship: Four $1,000 scholarships
· Nigel O. Hodge Foundation Scholarship: $1,000 to a graduating senior who is interested in a related degree related to health, medicine and nursing at an accredited college or university.
· Richard Noel Allen Scholarship: (1) $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors, high school or GED graduates or undergraduate students pursuing a degree program in ministry or communications.
· Theodore E. Sharp Scholar Awards: $2,000 award to 1 student or $1,000 to 2 students with outstanding records in community service that have applied to, or are already enrolled in an accredited college or university.
· Tunick Family Fund Scholarship: An award of $1,000 to a student at the University of the Virgin Islands, with academic excellence and financial need who is pursuing an undergraduate degree in business.
· David & Shawn McBride: One $1,500 Scholarship
· Virgin Islands Association of Legal Assistants (VIALA) Scholarship: (1) $1,000 Scholarship
· Anna Walsh Scholar Awards: Ten scholarships of $1,000 awarded to students that have applied to, or are already enrolled in any accredited college or university.
Virgin Islands Board of Education Scholarships
2013-2014 Financial-Aid Application is available January 1st thru May 3, 2013
Applicant Eligibility:
- Must be a bona fide resident of the V. I.
- Must be a graduate from a high school in the Virgin Islands or have proof of three (3) years residency in the Virgin Islands
- Must have financial need
- Must have a cumulative grade point average of no less than 2.0 or 2.5 for Nursing
- Must be accepted to or attending an accredited institution.

Children under 25 years of age, of members and officers of the National Guard of the V.I. who die or sustain permanent total disability in the line of official duty while on territorial active military duty, active federal duty or training duty.
$2,000.00 a year not to exceed four (4) years
15. VALEDICTORIAN/ SALUTATORIAN AWARDS
Each high school valedictorian shall receive $1,000.00
Each high school salutatorian shall receive $700.00
16. EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN
Be suffering from a physical or mental disability and need educational training not available in the V.I. public school. $2,000.00 per year not to exceed four (4) years.
