The bell rings when lunch time begins and all the students of Kean High School are eating their lunches in the cafeteria. From nowhere loud music begins, music from your favorite artist like Drake’s “Proud of You.” The students are dancing and singing. That’s the mission of the Sound Booth.

Sound Booth is a group of students from Kean High School that work on music or setting up equipment at meetings for teachers and principals. They setup shows like Military Ball, jams, meetings or prep rallies. The Sound Booth has the microphone ready for who want to use it or speak, too.

Anybody can join the Sound Booth, but you got to be determined to work hard and help the school by staying after school to help Mr. Jerome Brown, the Social Studies teacher who is in charge of the Sound Booth, or Ms. Sally Petty, one of the assistant principals.

Sound Booth is based on keeping the students “occupied or out of trouble.” Students in the Booth could listen to their favorite music, they play Rap, Rock, Reggae, Reggaeton, Country, R&B, and Jazz. They don’t keep playing the same old music. Everyday is a different music or sound. Theyalso get requests from the students on what they want the Sound Booth to play for them.

The Sound Booth is also an after school program for those who want learn more about how to set up up the electronic equipment. Students could get community service hours by helping out Mr. Brown.

The first students that were part of the Sound Booth are Mervin, Zavier, Jordan, Scott, and Fitzroy. Now there are new students signing up to be part of the Sound Booth. Their names are Eddie, Kasey, David, and Anton. Mr. Brown said “Sound Booth is more than a School Activity, It’s LIFE.”
