Tailten Fair is the annual magical marketplace in Hibernia. The typical transaction involves a magus paying vis in advance for an item which will be delivered at the following year's Fair. Merchants do typically have one or two items "on display," but these are items which were paid for last year and are scheduled to be picked up this year, or items which were paid for but never claimed. All prices here are in p, which are pawns of vis.
These items are presumed to be crafted by some of the approximately 75 Hermetic magi who live in Hibernia. As a rule, they can be commissioned one at a time for delivery the following year. Redcaps handle most of these transactions from a "store front" at Tailten Fair. Some of these commissions are bid and auctioned; that is, a customer pays for an item, and then the Redcaps offer the contract to Hibernian magi until someone agrees to complete it, paying a small fee to the Redcaps.
Most of these items are designed to make work easier. Besides their aesthetic and time-saving value, they also save money (roughly 1£ per year for every 2p spent on the item).

These items are produced by specific Hermetic magi, mostly Verditius, who dwell in Hibernia. No one else in Hibernia makes them. They are more expensive and recognized as luxury goods by magi throughout Mythic Europe, but are still lesser or charged items. Verditius only craft such trivial objects when they have no clients for greater work. For this reason, these items are not always available for commission.
The senior Verditius in Hibernia is a member of the Confraternity of Roland and a maker of magical swords. He seldom leaves his covenant, but is represented at the Faire by Sicarius, his vendor, a grizzled former soldier and mercenary.
Sword of Quality (4p): Styrbjorn produces Excellent swords (+4 to Attack and Defense). Made a Sword of Quality, such a weapon has an additional +4 bonus on Attack to harm people or animals. It is not magical, and is not affected by Magic Resistance.
Firebrand (12p): Styrbjorn can take one of his Swords of Quality and enchant it with Blade of Virulent Flame. Such a sword comes with a warning to allow the blade to cool for half an hour between activations, or else the maker is not responsible for damage to the weapon. (Base 5, +1 Diameter, +5 for 24/day, +20 for +40 Penetration.)
Sword of Roland (57p): Styrbjorn can make Swords of Roland. The price listed here is for the minimum level of enchantment, and is slightly lower than usual. A truly spectacular Sword of Roland can be three times this price. See Swords of Roland for more information.
Peter sculpts magical statues, and is a member of the Confraternity of Irene the Younger. He does not negotiate personally with customers, preferring to let his vendor, a beautiful young blonde named Calliope, represent his interests.
Peter's Dove of Peace (9p): This is among the most humble examples of Peter's work: A small statue of a dove, placed within a chamber. Everyone in the chamber is made peaceful (specifically, non-violent). Variants of this statue can be made for other emotions, such as happiness, contentment, or even sadness. Those affected by these emotions have to make Personality Trait rolls to act contrary to the created emotion. (Base 4, +2 Room, +2 Sun, +4 levels for constant effect, +6 for +12 Penetration.)
Monument to the Fallen (12p): Peter makes these statues as memorials to those who have died. He uses InMe magic to gain personal knowledge of the subject's appearance and an important memory about that individual. Then he crafts a sculpture out of stone and infuses the sculpture with the chosen memory. The statue is placed in a chamber, and all who enter instantly "remember" the infused memory, as if they were present. (Base 5, +2 Room, +2 Sun, +4 levels for constant effect, +11 for +22 Penetration.)
Peter's Tireless Stone Servants (12p): Peter produces Tireless Servants sculpted from two tons of marble to the customer's request. They function identically to the skeletal Tireless Servants, but are more beautiful and are Items of Quality adding +3 to relevant Ability rolls (such as to impress a visitor or hold a door shut). (Base 3, +1 Stone, +2 precision, +2 complexity, +1 Concentration, +5 levels item maintains concentration, +10 levels unlimited uses/day).
Peter's Silent Witness (12p): A statue enchanted with a variant of Frosty Breath of the Spoken Lie, activated with a secret word chosen by the buyer. If anyone within the chamber speaks a lie in the next two minutes, frosty breath emanates from the statue's mouth. This effect has no Penetration. (Base 15, +3 Room, +1 Diameter, +5 levels for 24/day).
Galatea: Peter's greater enchanted items are statues enchanted with multiple effects. Examples include: statues which translate any spoken language into Latin, which stand perpetual guard and rouse an alarm at any intruder, which defend the lab with deadly spells and curses, or which can temporarily store the memories of a person for later retrieval. Peter can combine many of these effects into a single statue.
Lewis is an expert wood-worker and a specialist in Ignem magic; he is a member of the Confraternity of Balerno and is usually busy crafting items for House Flambeau. He is represented by Niles, a failed apprentice.
Wand of Fireballs (18p): Lewis produces a number of fire-based items for utility and combat. This is a common example. The wand releases a +30 damage Ball of Abyssal Flame with Penetration of +42. It can be used 12 times a day. (Base 25, +2 Voice, +4 levels for 12/day, +21 for +42 Penetration.)
Death in a Bottle (3p): For those who desire pyrotechnics on a budget, Lewis produces these charged items. Each is a glass bottle containing a single Ball of Abyssal Flame with Penetration +40. The fireball affects whatever breaks the bottle.
Firestarter (3p): A wand which starts a fire on command, touching the objects to be lit. A simple tool for grogs and covenfolk. (Base 4, +1 Touch, +5 for 24/day.)
Fireproof Armarius (6p): This a book cabinet which protects everything within it from mundane fires. Flames with a high damage bonus are resisted, but not completely shut out. For the library. (Base 4, +1 Touch, +2 Sun, +4 levels for constant effect.)
Door of Surprises (12p): When anyone tries to open this door without first speaking the password, flames emanate from its surface inflicting +20 damage. For the Sanctum. (Base 15, +1 Touch, +10 for unlimited uses, +10 for +20 levels for Penetration +40.)
Charm of Unburnability (18p): Whosoever wears this small wooden token around the neck is immune to all fire up to +40 damage. (Base 4, +7 for +40 damage, +1 Touch, +2 Sun, +4 levels for constant effect.)
Wand of Fire Elementals: Like other Verditius, Lewis prefers to make greater items. Among his creations is a wand which can congeal an elemental out of a fire and force the elemental to obey the caster.
The covenant of Lambaird is always at Tailten Fair and they keep a brisk business selling magical beasts to covenants throughout the British Isles. Dalton Ballaugh has final say on all transactions, but experienced covenfolk do most of the sales work. Lambaird's animals are all neutered before being sold.
Horses: Lambaird's horses are Immune to the Gift, and are typically used as mounts by magi or their shield grogs. They are Magic Might 3. Palfreys and jennets (gentle riding horses) cost 3p. Rouncies of excellent quality, most used as riding horses for warriors and knights, cost 6p. The largest of Dalton's steeds is a courser, a true warhorse, and costs 10p.
Hounds: Lambaird raises hounds with Magical Sensitivity, allowing them to smell vis. They are mastiffs with Might 6 and cost 4p.
Hawks: Lambaird's hawks are gyrfalcons Immune to the Gift. They have Might 7 and serve as pets, hunting animals, and familiars for magi. They cost 4p.
