Athena Alpina

Athena Alpina scholae Guernicus (in 1212)

Athena is the senior ranking Quaesitor in the Greater Alps and is known for her even-handed treatment ('blatant favoritism') of House Tremere. She is an Intellego specialist interested in trading contracts and Hermetic economics, resides at the Icy North motherhouse, and is briefly described in Sanctuary of Ice (p.45).

Athena has taught two apprentices in her long life and has performed her duty as Quaesitor with distinction. She focuses on settling disputes between magi privately and out of Tribunal, but has increasingly used her powerful Intellego magics to get to the root of criminal accusations. She is not a fighter, and leaves that to potent Hoplites like Hugh of Flambeau. Her familiar is an Owl of Virtue named Sophia.

After the rise of Grigori and his Shadow Magi, Athena spent some time building up defenses against demons and then acquired an arsenal of spells designed for Wizard's War. In addition to Opening the Intangible Tunnel and its Diameter-duration cousin Minute of Reckoning, she can detect tunnel spells used against her (Flesh Crawls at the Intangible Touch), close them (Break the Siege) and attack through the Tunnel with Breaking the Shield, Searing Touch, and Slap of Absent Magic. She uses Maintain the Demanding Spell to keep an Intangible Tunnel open, and spontaneously casts non-fatiguing Intellego magic to see her target when she wants to spy on them.

She has the arcane connections to all three of the apprentices in Grigori's camp: Ilsa, Martin, and Akakios. She uses these connections to spy on Grigori's activities using Summoning the Distant Image.
