Originally from London and the son of a wealthy merchant, Lucien was taken from his home at age 13 when it became clear there was something not quite right with the child. Taken in by a Criamon mage belonging to the traveling covenant of Semitae, his apprenticeship wasn't easy by any means, but for the most part, his parens wasn't abusive toward him. He was treated with indifference, neither warm nor overly cold, but Lucien's master was brilliant and taught the young man much. Only after he was gauntleted as a Criamon magus and taught the mystery of Parma did Lucien learn the truth: his parens was actually a diabolist and, unbeknownst to the Tribunal or his own covenant, using black magic.Afraid of what might happen to him, and not wanting to be connected to a Diabolist in case the Tribunal found out, Lucien ran, changing his name and only ever stating the house he belongs to, never who his parens is. He hasn't ever put down roots for fear his master would find out where he was.He won't talk about the events in his covenant before he left, and now he bides his time trying to unravel the Enigma, roaming around the countryside, running from his mistakes in the past. Given the strange events around his parens, he's only ever sworn one of the typical vows for his house, and that's to be a Pacifist. Pleasures of the flesh, well they were never denied to him in the first place, so why should they be now?It is worth noting that Lucien is not the original name he took when he was gauntleted, nor is it his true name he was born with, and neither of them are words that will pass his lips ever again. Names have power, and he has a very dark past he wishes to keep hidden.Characteristics: Int +4, Per 0, Pre +2, Com 0, Str 0, Sta +2, Dex +0, Qik +1Size: 0Age: 33 (Born Spring 1194)Decrepitude: 0

Lucien's Lab
The lab is a blue wagon, about 15 feet long, about 8 feet wide, and just barely tall enough that he doesn't have to stoop. This is about as small as a lab could possibly be, and Lucien lives in there too, making it extraordinarily cramped and dangerous to use as a lab. Basically, lab equipment is stuffed into every possible space, with things dangling from the ceiling and constantly falling out of cupboards. He bound his dog in here, and it's kind of a miracle nothing blew up. Lucien's crest (shown here) is painted on the door and reads "Never cruel nor cowardly, never give up, never give in," in Latin, with the Caduceus in the center. The crossed roses signify the contents of the Lab are 'Sub Rosa,' to remain a mystery to others unless Lucien allows them to enter. The tan mare that pulls his wagon is named Rose.

Claire- Lucien's Servant
Claire is from southern England but came to Ireland about a year ago with her common law husband, who was pursuing a "get rich quick" scheme involving the English conquerors. It went south and her husband ended up dead. Claire was struggling for food and shelter, and refused to prostitute herself, and came to Cor Draconis at the Eye of Balor ceremony begging for work. Jocelyn was immediately impressed with her intelligence and has had her running errands and learning the castle.
Claire's Latin is very poor; she's not gone to Profundus's lessons yet. But Lucien knows English so that wouldn't be a problem. She's energetic and brash, with a bit of a foul mouth, but she's very smart (Int +3).

Kaine is a silvery-grey Scottish terrier and was born a runt, the ninth of his litter. His Tytalus master rejected him and sold him to Lucien for a single piece of silver. But Kaine has an encyclopedic command of the classics, including the liberal arts, natural philosophy, and medicine. He's been very useful to Lucien in his wanderings.
