Sir Blane Somerled

Sir Blane is the son of Iona Reeve, a mortal woman of Scotland, and the faerie King (once Knight) of Summer. Blessed with superhuman strength and beauty, he has been knighted by his father and is now seeking adventure before he is called home to rule in his father's stead. Sir Blane is truthful and compassionate, a great warrior beloved by women, and a bit of a gossip. He has pointed ears and blue eyes so bright they are actually visible in the dark, like shining jewels.

Sir Blane's future is not entirely rosy, however. He was born in Autumn, which was considered a bad omen by the faeries of his father's court. There are whispers that he suffers under a curse of misfortune and bad timing. This has led some of his father's court to support Blane's younger brother Niall (who is seven years his junior and entirely Faerie) for the throne. After his brother did, indeed, take the throne and throw the fairy courts into disarray, he had resigned himself to a mortal life, which is what he wants more that anything. Given the love of his life is human, even if a maga, he did not want to pull her into Arcadia and have what happened to his mother to happen to her. His intention it to try and save his brother so that he might rule the fairy lands as nature had intended.

In the Summer of 1227 he wed Nuala, in what would end up being his most happiest of moments before the darkness crept in. After the first battle of Uisneach and the death of Coleman and his cousin Bradach, a notable change happened to his personality. He had believed that he could save anyone, but after one of his closest friends died and there was nothing he could do, that helplessness caused him to close himself off. Gone was the idealistic young man that arrived at Cor Draconis fresh from his travels, and he was replaced with man who was more kind and gentle to those he protected, and yet harsh and unforgiving to those he is not attached too. If it's possible, he seems to love and respect his wife even more than he had, not knowing when something might happen to her, he does what he can to show those close to him he loves them. He regrets never telling Coleman just how much he meant to the knight.

Strength of the Sun (Major; New Virtue)

The Knight of Summer's strength waxes with the sun. Starting at dawn and lasting for about an hour (roughly 9-10am), his Strength is +4. For about another hour (roughly 10-11am), his Strength is +5. And then, until the sun is highest (roughly 11am-noon), his Strength is +6. As soon as the sun is no longer at its highest point, his Strength falls immediately back to +3 and remains there until the following sunrise. Clouds, being indoors, and other sky cover has no effect on this supernatural power (in fact, clouds will usually part and sunbeams will change their angle as they enter windows to shine on him when he performs feats of strength).
