From the start, Brogan Breen’s road proved an uphill challenge.
She was born unto redcap apprentices Perceval of Stonehenge Tribunal and his betrothed Darina Caitlin of Hibernia Tribunal at the Mercer House of Leth Cuinn in 1187. The labor had been an intense, thirteen hour long ordeal, culminating in the death of Darina due to complications sustained during childbirth.
As per the nameless child, she arrived into this world weighing in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces with all her extremities quickly accounted for, along with a singular tuft of brightly burning red hair and quite, unmistakably blind.
Word reached Perceval at the Mercer House in Stonehenge by way of Coventry of the fate of his betrothed and newborn child. Word never returned.
When it became all too clear that her father was not coming, it fell upon Leth Cuinn’s sole wet nurse, Moira Breen, and her husband, Doran the Kennel Master, to raise the child. In a fit of good-humored mirth, Doran carelessly named the child Brogan, which in Gaelic means “shoe,” as a little jab on his wife’s compulsion for bringing home random shoes; the name stuck.
In short order, Doran fell in love with the girl and spent most of his time with her. He fostered in Brogan a love and respect for all animals, training various hounds to aide her in navigating the corridors of the Mercer House. When she turned six, he began teaching her how to train the animals herself. During this period, it was also discovered that she possessed a kinship with the greater wilderness that was entirely uncanny. She could sense what direction she was traveling in through concentration alone, and soon memorized the surrounding areas of Leth Cuinn in all directions.
When she was of age, the redcaps of Leth Cuinn sent for one of their own from nearby Leth Moga to serve as her master. Accommodations were made Logan the Learned arrived to serve as the girl’s dominus. Logan taught her that—in spite her mother’s predilection toward violence—Brogan was descended from the line of Belin on her estranged father’s side. Her training was in the way of procedure and decorum, specifically how to navigate a Tribunal. However, the open road called to her, and Brogan wanted to deliver mail like a true daughter of Belin.
As her apprenticeship drew to a close and she began to explore more and more of Ireland, it was clear to Logan the Learned that regardless of whatever sage advice he had for his apprentice on her wildly reckless course that she would not be swayed. Thus, he set out to bestow upon her enchanted items to aide her in this task of navigating the world and ensuring that parcels were given to the proper recipients.
Upon completing her Gauntlet, which was to deliver a missive to each covenant in the tribunal in one week’s time (a task she performed with a day to spare), she received the Ring of Sense the Page's Ink and Walking Stick of Eyes of the Bat.
Accompanied by Conan, her English mastiff, Brogan Breen has spent the last eight years of her life wandering Ireland, delivering her mail and amassing a reputation as “The Blind Redcap” to the callously discriminatory, and “a Belin” to the more intuitive.

Gear: Breen wears a weather-stained emerald cloak over a well-worn traveling dress. The badge of her station, a redcap, is immaculately kempt. Tucked into her skirts is a modest dagger. In her possession is her walking stick, a ring and a leather mailbag (See: Below). Covering her unseeing gaze is an emerald strip of clothe -- undoubtedly torn from her cloak -- tied in a knot in the back as not to upset passing strangers.
