The Mac Tire are a sept of nomadic wolf-magi from the Bjornaer Clan Maruhs. Their covenant is entirely unofficial, as they have no cathach and no registered vis sources. Instead, they travel from one booley to another, taking their easily-transportable laboratories with them. Most of their booleys are located on islands in the middle of lakes, often including a regio. The Mac Tire are ancient enemies of the covenant of Longmist, which holds the pelt of Clan Mac Tire's founder as its cathach. The Mac Tire are currently led by Cu Chonnacht Cluasach Mac Tire, but he is aging and weary. His subordinate, Ban, is eager to take control but has been discouraged from taking over by the fact that Cu Chonnacht still performs several vital sept functions. The Mac Tire are supported by a large band of brigands and criminals, with whom they travel Hibernia raiding and working as mercenaries.

A Mac Tire of this age is expected to have enchanted his Mask talisman and be ready to take an apprentice. He has been initiated into the mystery of Sensory Magic and, though Clan Maruhs, Puissant Animal. However, with Unpredictable Magic, they always roll stress dice to cast, even at rest. He uses Marking the Territory to keep mundanes away from the booklet, leaving small paths open. He stirs the Grogs to reckless bravery with Clarion Call of the War Horse and can smell out the Gifted, potential apprentices for training or trade.
In battle, he adds a +3 Soak for The Fur That Turns Blades, he ignores wound penalties thanks to Endurance of the Wolf. Cu Chonnacht has responsibilities as the leader of the sept; in particular, he is the Mystagogue for the Mac Tire's Sensory Magic and Puissant Animal virtues, he is responsible for making Longevity Rituals, and on the rare occasions when the covenant stays in one place, he casts the Aegis. Although not of extreme age for a magus, his nomadic life without material comforts has left him weary and broken; he seeks to spend the rest of his life cultivating his Inner Heartbeast, leaving the worries of men behind, but he does not trust Ban with the clan.
Cu Chonnacht is not much more powerful than the other members of his clan; they simply do not have access to the books and other resources necessary for him to easily advance further. His recent aging crisis left him bedridden for a month and his self-confidence has suffered; he is now openly mocked by the other Mac Tire. He has responded by enchanting his Talisman with various protective magics to ensure that, if Ban attacks him, Cu Chonnacht will survive to flee the Mac Tire and pursue his Inner Heartbeast.
These are bone masks decorated with occult symbols inlaid in silver. Each is prepared with 9 pawns of vis, then attuned as a talisman. All of the masks are functionally identical, though they have various minor differences in appearance, and the Mac Tire use lab texts for all these effects.
