Covenants in Hibernia

  • Circulus Ruber: The oldest covenant in Hibernia is also the largest. It is located on the coast of Munster, about a hundred miles southwest of Uisneach.

    • Visioturpis Ua Ghionaocas: Visioturpis is the oldest Quaesitor in Hibernia and presided at the Tribunal of 1221. His name means "ugly face."

    • Milvia Ua Bonaosagas: The current praeco of the tribunal is a 164-year old maga who dwells at Circulus Ruber.

    • Busiran an Taotalas: Busiran is Victor's grandfather, a traditional Hibernian arch-magus at the covenant of Circulus Ruber. He is a master of multiple personae, magical alternate identities wielded by Tytalus magi. Through these personae, he single-handedly manipulates the Irish noble families. Busiran is a Mentem specialist with both Subtle and Quiet magic. To claim the status of archmage from him, a claimant must steal one of his personae.

    • Bran an t-Iarbiteon: A young Hibernian magus who has adopted the lifestyle of an Irish lord.

  • Praesis: The closest covenant to Uisneach is thirty miles to the west, on the Connacht border. Formerly a symbol of cooperation between the Ordo Hibernia and the Coill Tri, Praesis was recently conquered after a multi-year siege by Continental magi. It is now in the hands of Ballack of Tytalus.

    • Ballack of Tytalus: Leader of the war which destroyed the covenant of Praesis, Ballack has taken over that covenant and is rebuilding it. He is originally from the Rhine Tribunal.

    • Cesaire of Bonisagus: Originally from Normandy, Cesaire joined the Siege of Praesis and helped in its conquest. His cruelty to his apprentices is legendary.

  • Lambaird: A Flambeau covenant fifty miles southeast of Uisneach, Lombaird is a traditional Hibernian community. In a valley hidden among the Leinster hills, its magi busy themselves with hunting and the raising of magical animals which they sell on the Hermetic market.

    • Dalton: The princeps of Lambaird is the son of a beast-magus and famous for his gift with animals.

    • Sorcha an Flambo: Recently Gauntleted, Sorcha is an energetic warrior-maga who specializes in breaking magical defenses like the Parma and Aegis.

    • Qui Sonant Pro Quieto: The Hermetic Cemetary, Qui Sonant is a unique Hibernian covenant dedicated to preserving the corpses of magical beings, including but not limited to magi. It is relatively close to Uisneach, fifty miles to the northeast along the Ulster coast.

      • Nuala of the Younger House: Nuala is an alluring maga from a tradition of sirens. and newly Gauntleted.

      • Lewis: A Verditius who specializes in wood-working and fire magic.

    • Ashenrise: The premier covenant for so-called "English magi," Ashenrise is actively trying to bring Continental ways to the Ordo Hibernia. It is located in Leinster.

      • Helles of Tytalus: The princeps of Ashenrise, Helles is a sophisticated, courteous, and intelligent magus dedicated to reforming Hibernia's peripheral code.

    • Konstanczia of Tremere: At 65 years of age, Konstanczia is the senior-most Tremere in Hibernia. She does not carry her own sigil, but has instead been loaned the sigils of all Tremere in the Tribunal, in order to vote with them as she is instructed by House elders (presumably the Exarch in Stonehenge, Goliard).

  • Elk's Run: A covenant famous for having the best library in Hibernia. It is in Munster.

    • Oswald Ua Bonaosagas: Famous throughout the Order as a librarian and book-lender, Oswald founded Elk's Run and continues to manage it even in his advanced age.

    • Igneous Drake of Flambeau: Violent and jovial, Igneous is a English magus who came to the (apparently) lawless Hibernia seeking a challenge.

    • Cliffheart: A Merinita covenant.

      • Styrbjorn: A master swordsmith and member of the Confraternity of Roland, Styrbjorn is the senior Verditius in Hibernia.

    • Peruchia of Nerius: A small covenant of Holy magi dedicated to Saint Nerius.

      • Indrechtach: This holy magus represented the Peruchia at the Tribunal of 1221 and led the opening ceremonies.

    • Vigil: A Merinita covenant founded before the Schism war.

      • Peter: Previously at Qui Sonant but forced out in a political quarrel, Peter recently found a home at Vigil. He is a sculptor and a member of the Confraternity of Irene the Younger.

    • Longmist: An old covenant with reclusive magi, Longmist has not attended Tribunal in decades and is presumed to be in Winter.

      • The Cailleach: Her name means "The Hag" in Gaelic. She was recently a student of Peter's, in her macgnimartha, and she has a talent for working in metal. Letters to her have gone unanswered.

    • Mimisbrunr: A young research covenant dedicated to integrating divination into Hermetic Theory (and this breaking the Limit of Time), Mimisbrunr is made up of newly-Gauntleted magi from the Rhine. They are located in Leinster at Kilree Tower, not far from their allies at Ashenrise.

      • Snorri Murionson: A young Bonisagus and leader of the divination project.

      • Svana of Tremere: A young woman with short white hair and a swan cloak, Svana was assigned to the research covenant by her House and is expected to represent Tremere interests there.

      • Minerva Strix of Bjornaer: Minerva has an owl heart-beast, and like her sodales was trained in the Rhine.

      • Dalt of Guernicus: Dalt is a sturdy, solemn, Terram specialist. He was the one who found the regio containing Mimir's Head, now the cathach for the covenant.

Mundane Locales

    • Delvin: This town is about half a day's ride northeast of the covenant. It is the home to Richard de Capella, 2nd Baron Delvin, who is known for his love of horse breeding. In spring of 1220, the magi overheard town gossip that the baroness was with child.

    • Trim: A town about a day's ride east of the covenant and the home of Walter de Lacy, Lord of Meath, King Henry's vassal in Ireland. De Lacy lives in Trim Castle, the largest stone castle in Ireland, rivaled only by the castle at Uisneach.
