Baetain Ua Traimair

Baetain is a specialist in animal magic -- specifically, creating them and controlling them. He has invented many unique spells which allow him to create animals out of thin air and control them by mental command. Harnessed Magic allows him to dispel these conjured animals when he has no further use for them. He is not particularly good at one-on-one magical violence (though he can conjure a cobra out of thin air with a Penetration of around 31), but he is excellent at creating hordes of flying, venomous, or predatory beasts and is capable of destroying an army single-handedly, especially if able to operate at night.

Baetain wears the skin of a wolf which allows him to transform into one of these animals, and his familiar is one of the white wolves ubiquitous to his House. He wields an enchanted whip, but this is primarily defensive in nature, designed to allow him to escape disaster. He is capable of avoiding harm through Wizard's Leap, and can even cast the spell perfectly while in wolf-shape.

Baetain's talisman is a whip, the handle of which is the bone of stag with an opal set in the base. It was opened with 8 pawns of vis, 7 of which are full. Baetain's whip is tied round his wrist with a leather thong, so that he is not separated from it when he transforms into a wolf.

The caster's can read the thoughts of an animal he has touched, and can indirectly sense the animal's location, using it as a spy. This spell does not grant any way to communicate or command the animal, because Baetain uses his summoned animals for this purpose and can already control them by mental command,
