Sarah

Sarah was born in the winter of 1221 to Jenny the Seamstress, and for years was presumed to be her daughter by Gregory the Grog, a former herald who has done the covenant good service even before the Alpine Apprentices left the Greater Alps. But, in the summer of 1225, the witch Ziroonderel arrived at the covenant and offered her services as nurse to Gifted children. When she was asked what she could tell the Council of Sarah's magical gifts, the witch revealed first that Sarah is the child of a magus, and second that her future is tied to Cor Draconis itself. "As the covenant prospers, she shall flourish, and as the covenant falters, so shall she wither."

Sarah is, in fact, the daughter of Cernunnos, whose love for Jenny was kept secret from everyone, including her husband Gregory. Cernunnos has not admitted to this, but urged the Council to retain Ziroonderel and stated an interest in taking Sarah as an apprentice.

Sarah has the Blatant Gift; this was a serious handicap throughout her infancy, when neither her mother nor her (presumed) father could muster much love for her. Polumeta, who has long favored Jenny as a craftswoman, occasionally extended her Parma over Jenny, which provided relief, but this was not a long term solution. Sarah was briefly tended by Jocelyn, before Otto's treason led to Jocelyn becoming autocrat at the covenant.

Sarah shows all signs of growing into a beautiful girl. She has black wavy hair and blue eyes, and is quite intelligent. Thanks to her Blatant Gift, she has no mundane friends, but she is beloved by the various familiars who dwell at the covenant. Sarah is prone to anxiety and worry, and does not like to leave the covenant's Magical Aura.
