Arnulf
Personality Traits: Loquacious +3, Soft Hearted +2, Protective +1
Arnulf is a middle-aged and garrulous Redcap from the Rhine Tribunal. Jovial, good-hearted, and protective of his friends, he is nevertheless low in the standing of the House. While he doesn't like to talk about it, Arnulf spent years as a slave-trader, buying Slavs from crusaders in Eastern Europe and selling them in Prague or ferrying them to Arab lands where he could cut out the middle-man. Eventually his business dealings got him in trouble, the House had to save him, and he was all but blacklisted. He knows he will never get a longevity potion or a comfortable assignment, and has spent the last several years planning a final enterprise which, he hopes, will both repair his damaged reputation and simultaneously secure his financial future.
Arnulf has used his extensive contacts in the Rhine, Roman, and Normandy Tribunals to collect Gifted children. Over a few years he's managed to secure twenty of them, one of the largest groups of unclaimed apprentices ever assembled. At the same time, he reached out to the Primi of Jerbiton and Criamon, knowing that both Houses would be eager for the children. Other Houses and covenants in the Alps got in on the action, and soon Arnulf had stirred up plenty of demand.
The enterprise is about to pay off. After collecting all the children in a long trip through Italy, Germany and France, Arnulf is bound for the Alps northern passes. He is expecting to meet Alpine Redcaps, who have already collected the very large sum of gold which Arnulf is to be paid. From there, he will make for Iberia, where the climate is warm and dry and he can retire to a life of raising fighting game-cocks, which have been his obsession since he was a boy.
